Is your team a team?

Is your team a team?

It sounds like a trivial question.

But it isn’t.

Just because you put all of the people who report to you in a room doesn’t mean they are a team.

Some questions you can ask yourself to determine if you have a team:

➡ Do we have a shared purpose?
➡ Are there clearly defined performance goals that we collectively strive to achieve?
➡ Do we make decisions that directly influence real work and outcomes?
➡ Do we hold each other accountable?
➡ Do we have a sense of responsibility and shared commitment?

Creating a team requires intentional effort.

It’s not easy work.

But it’s some of the most important work you will do.
