Your Role in Leading Change
A 10-Minute Self-Reflection Exercise
Change is inevitable, but great leaders approach it with intentionality. Take 10 minutes to reflect on your approach to leading change in your organization or team. Use the questions below to guide your thinking.
Step 1: Reflect on past experiences (4 minutes)
Think about a time when you successfully led or supported a change initiative.
What made it successful?
What was your role in driving that success?
What did you learn about yourself as a leader?
Now think about a time when a change initiative didn’t go as planned.
What were the biggest challenges?
How did you approach them?
What would you do differently next time?
Step 2: Think about the present (3 minutes)
Consider your current approach to change:
How do you typically respond to resistance to change from your team or colleagues?
What strategies do you use to build buy-in and momentum?
How do you model adaptability and resilience as a leader?
Step 3: Look ahead (3 minutes)
Commit to one small shift in how you will lead change:
What’s one thing you will do differently or more intentionally the next time?
How can you support your team during change?
What’s one skill you can strengthen to become a more effective leader during times of change?
