Resiliency Inventory
A 10-Minute Self-Reflection Exercise
Purpose:
Resilience is the cornerstone of effective leadership. How you respond to challenges shapes not only your outcomes but also the culture you create for your team. This exercise is designed to help you reflect on your recent experiences, understand your patterns, and take intentional steps to strengthen your resilience.
Time required: 10 minutes
Step 1: Reflect (3 minutes)
Think back to recent challenges you’ve faced as a leader.
List three challenges that tested you.
Consider the context of each situation. What made it particularly difficult?
Make note of any immediate feelings or reactions that surfaced.
Step 2: Assess (3 minutes)
Examine how you responded to these challenges.
What actions or approaches worked well?
Where could you improve?
How did your response affect your team, stakeholders, or outcomes?
Step 3: Identify Patterns (2 minutes)
Look for recurring themes in your experiences.
Which types of situations tend to test your resilience the most?
Are there common triggers, stressors, or behaviors that emerge under pressure?
Recognizing these patterns is key to anticipating challenges and responding more effectively.
Step 4: Action Step (2 minutes)
Choose one small, practical habit to strengthen your resilience this month.
Examples include taking a pause, planning buffer time between meetings, or having an accountability partner.
Commit to integrating it into your leadership routine. You can also share your chosen resilience practice with a colleague, peer, or your team to create further accountability.
