Coaching isn’t for everyone
I took a call the other day from someone interested in exploring executive coaching.
We had a pleasant conversation that was open, honest, and thoughtful.
But in the end, I declined the opportunity to work with them.
Here’s why:
I deeply believe in the transformative power of coaching.
It’s not just a service.
It’s a process that requires curiosity, and a willingness to lean into growth.
During our call, it became clear that this person wasn’t quite ready for that.
Instead of focusing on how coaching could support their leadership journey, they spent more time challenging the very premise of coaching itself.
And that’s okay.
Coaching isn’t for everyone.
And timing matters.
It’s most impactful for those who are ready to explore, reflect, and take actionable steps to improve their leadership and team performance.
As much as I would have loved to help, coaching is a partnership.
Both parties need to be fully invested in the process for it to work.
If you’re considering coaching, here’s a question to ask yourself:
Are you ready to approach it with curiosity and an open mind, trusting that growth often comes from places of discomfort?
Coaching isn’t about fixing something that’s broken.
It’s about amplifying your strengths, uncovering blind spots, and unlocking potential you may not even realize you have.
For those who are ready, it’s a game-changer.
