Great leaders help others grow
One of the most generous things you can do is give someone the chance to grow.
Not by sending them to a training.
Not by adding a stretch goal to their annual review.
By handing them something real.
Something that used to be yours.
I see people hold on to work all the time.
Not because they don't trust the people around them.
But because letting go feels risky.
What if they do it differently than I would?
What if it doesn't go perfectly?
Here's the thing:
"Differently than you would" is not the same as "wrong."
Imperfect execution with room to learn is often more valuable than perfect execution with no ownership.
This isn't just how great leaders lead.
It's how great parents parent.
And great teachers teach.
And great mentors mentor.
When you hand something over with real intention, you get to watch someone become more capable because you believed in them enough to let go.
That's not a management strategy.
That's one of the best things you can do for another person.
