Leadership & the gift of silence
We live in a world that never stops connecting.
Notifications.
Dings.
Pings.
It’s constant.
Last night, I decided to try something different while making dinner.
No podcast.
No music.
No background noise at all.
Just silence.
The rhythm of the knife chopping.
The hum of the oven heating up.
My mind started to wander.
Earlier in the day, I had been stuck, wrestling with a problem I couldn’t figure out how to solve.
But in that quiet moment, the solution appeared as if it had been waiting for me to make space for it.
It was as if my brain was saying, “Finally, some time to just be.”
As a leader, how often do you give yourself the gift of silence?
Uninterrupted time to think isn’t a luxury.
It’s a necessity.
So here’s a challenge for you today:
Try turning everything off for 10 minutes today.
Let your mind wander.
You might be surprised by what you discover.
The quiet moments will leave you feeling refreshed.
Clearer.
Nourished.
