New role!
On July 1, I step into the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees at Westover School.
I am honored to step into this role and partner with Head of School Polly Fredlund.
Westover was the four most transformative years of my education.
I remember opening the front door for the first time so clearly.
I was quiet, shy, and unsure of myself.
I left four years later with something far more valuable than I understood at the time.
My voice.
Westover does on purpose what most places only hope for.
It takes a young woman, and it does not ask her to be smaller.
It asks her to think, to do, to be.
And to lead a life of consequence.
The work of a Board is to make sure that it continues.
Governance is not glamorous.
It's hard questions asked at the right time.
It's not running the school, but making it possible for Polly and her team to run it well.
It's making decisions for the girls who have not yet even applied.
I'm privileged to help steward this school.
To hold it for the next board of trustees.
The next head of school.
And the girl who walks through the door not knowing yet what she's capable of.
To my fellow trustees, to Polly, and to the whole Westover community:
It is a privilege to serve with all of you.
