The accountability problem is a clarity problem
When teams struggle, leaders often say they need more accountability.
But here's what I see in my coaching work:
The accountability problem is usually a clarity problem.
Your team doesn't know what "good" actually looks like.
Or who owns what.
Or which priorities matter most when everything feels important.
Without clarity, accountability feels like pressure.
With clarity, it feels like support.
Your team wants to do their work well.
They just don't want to guess.
So before you overreact about accountability, ask yourself:
Have I made it clear enough for my team to succeed?
