Where it all began

Someone asked me recently about my leadership story.

It starts at Westover School.

I still have a very clear memory of opening that front door for the first time for a visit.

My 13-year-old self had no idea how much my four years there would set the course of who I would become.

It was there I found my voice.

Where I was encouraged to be who I wanted to be.

Where I found unconditional support.

And peers who pushed me to grow without cutthroat competition.

Those are the lessons I took into leadership.

Our leadership journeys don’t always start in the workplace.

Both people and places shape who we are.

I am lucky that I get to regularly return to that place that played a pivotal role in shaping the person I am today.
