Do you decide too fast?
Early in my career, I thought a good leader had the answer on the spot.
Someone brings you a problem.
You solve it.
Right there.
So when I moved into leadership, I did just that.
But what I actually did was make a lot of fast decisions I later had to undo.
And trust me.
The undoing is much worse than going slow.
Now I pause.
Not forever.
Just long enough to separate my first reaction from my best one.
"Let me think about that and get back to you Thursday" is a complete answer.
Your team doesn't need you to be fast.
They need decisions you can stand behind.
