If you’re not meeting, you’re not leading

If you’re not meeting with your people, you’re not leading.

Lately, I’ve been hearing a recurring theme.

Not just from clients, but also from colleagues, friends, and connections.

Their leaders are regularly canceling or skipping their 1:1 meetings.

And what’s been more surprising is that a couple of people don’t meet with their leaders at all. 🤯

Here’s the thing:

1:1s with your direct reports are some of the most essential meetings you have.

Why?

✅ They build trusting and strong relationships.
✅ They support your direct report’s growth and development.
✅ They hold people accountable to their goals.

If you’re not making meeting 1:1 with your direct reports a priority, it’s time to rethink your approach to leadership.

Because leadership isn’t about you.
It’s about your team.

And if you’re not meeting with your people, you’re not leading.
