Leadership is not always about the big moves

There was a moment in a recent team session that stayed with me.

I like to close by asking for takeaways.

Someone paused, took a breath, and said:
“I finally feel like we can be honest with each other.”

The entire room shifted.

You could feel the ease.
The exhale.
The sense that something real was possible again.

Leadership is not always about the big moves.

Often, it is the quiet moments of truth-telling that create the most momentum.

I keep thinking about that moment.

It reminds me that trust comes first.
And everything else is built from there.
