The joy is in the journey
Exactly 17 years ago, I first took my family with me on a business trip.
I headed to the Colony Hotel - Maine in Kennebunkport for the Crow’s Nest Institute.
Families were encouraged.
And it felt right to have my family tag along.
So Pete Carpenter, our then 1-year-old, and the dog all came with me to Maine.
Since then, my family has joined me on some business trips.
But no one has since I started Carpenter Leadership Consulting.
Until now.
17 years later.
A different coast.
A different season of life.
My daughter decided to join me in Washington State at the Northwest Association of Independent Schools Leadership Institute at the Alderbrook Resort & Spa.
One of us is here to speak.
The other is here to spend time reading by the water.
And it’s perfect.
(Okay. Almost perfect. We’re missing Pete.)
Work evolves.
Parenting evolves.
Leadership evolves.
The joy is in the journey.
